Person Fatally Shot By Waterbury Police Officer Identified
The officer-involved shooting occurred Monday in Waterbury. The identity of the police officer was also released by State Police.

WATERBURY, CT β State Police on Monday said Edward Gendron, 57, Waterbury, was the person shot and killed by a Waterbury police officer on Monday.
The New Britain Stateβs Attorneyβs Office and the Connecticut State Police - Central District Major
Crime Squad were assigned to investigate a fatal police involved shooting that occurred at 81 Craigie Ave. in Waterbury.
An autopsy was performed Tuesday at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington. The decedent is identified as Edward Gendron, 57, Waterbury. The Waterbury Police Officer involved in this incident is identified as Officer Ronald W. Tompkins III, who has been a member of the Waterbury Police Department since October 30, 1989.

Media reports say the two men were involved in a physical altercation and during the incident Tompkins fired his gun.
