Phoenix Stage Company Announces New Season

The 2018 season was announced at the annual Anniversary Celebration held on Saturday.

Oakville, CT - Phoenix Stage Company commemorated their seventh anniversary on Saturday evening with the traditional Anniversary Celebration. This year’s cook-off theme was a dish inspired by a fairy tale, with prizes given the the best-named dish and the best dish overall. The best named winner was “Grandma” with “Beauty and the quiche” and the queen with the best dish overall went to Lori Richnavsky for Ariel’s Seafood Stuffed Shells.

Phoenix in Flight awards were handed out to three long-time volunteers, Mary Kamens, Rob Richnavsky and Lori Richnavsky.

The 2017-2018 season will open with the previously announced production of ‘Mrs. Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge’ by Christopher Durang, opening on November 24 of this year and running through December 10. The first show of the new year will be ‘Cliffhanger’ by James Yaff which will run in February. In March the comedy ‘The Foreigner’ by Larry Shue will be presented, followed by ‘Moon Over Buffalo’ by Ken Ludwig in April/May.

June will bring the wonderful musical ‘The 25th Annual Putnum County Spelling Bee’ directed by Beth Steinberg with musical direction by her husband Maurice Steinberg. In July the play ‘One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest’ by Dale Wasserman, adapted by the novel by Ken Kesey, will be performed.

Scheduled for September is ‘The Octette Bridge Club’ by P.J. Barry with eight wonderful roles for women. The season concludes with ‘The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, by Eberle Thomas and Barbara Redmond in October.
