Plans Announced for Services for "Fr. Gene"

WOODBRIDGE, CT - A MESSAGE FROM FATHER FORD

It is with great sadness that I inform the parishioners of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish that their beloved, retired Pastor, Monsignor Gene Gianelli (Father Gene) passed away on Wednesday, July 29th.

We pray that he may exult forever with the Eternal High Priest, Jesus Christ, whom he loved and served in sacred office for over 50 years.

Funeral and Parish Mass times have been finalized.

Schedule of Services for Monsignor Gianelli

Fr. Gene will be lying in state on Monday, Aug. 10 from 4:00-6:00 pm in the church. This will be open to all people who wish to process through the church to pay their respects. Social distancing will be maintained.

A Parish Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Aug. 10, 2020 at 7 pm at the Center Road church. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED to attend the Mass. Reservations may be made by going to the link www.signupgenius.com/go/904054aacae2da2fe3-reservations2

or by calling the rectory beginning on Monday, Aug. 3, 2020 at 10:00am.

Please note that are only 80 or so slots for the Mass, because attendance will be limited to a total of 100 people. The parish understands that everyone really wants to attend this Mass, but due to COVID there will not be many slots available.

The Funeral Mass is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2020 at 11:00am. The funeral will be By Invitation Only.

Our Lady of the Assumption parish plans to schedule a large Memorial Mass for Father Gene sometime next year.
