Police Activity Near Naugatuck School Explained: UPDATE

NAUGATUCK, CT — There is police activity in the area of Salem School while police investigate an incident. Students are secure on-site while police investigate. Further updates will be provided, police said.

Police said shortly after noon, Naugatuck Police were called to Salem School after receiving a report of a suspicious male in the wooded area by the school. The male was reported to have an object, possibly a firearm, police said.

"School staff acted appropriately locking down the school while police checked the area. Based upon our investigation we determined at this time that the report was not credible. However, in an abundance of caution police will maintain a presence in the area for the duration of the school day," Naugatuck Police said.
