Man Accused Of Firing BB Gun Near Naugatuck School: Police
The school was placed into a lockdown briefly on Wednesday afternoon as police investigated.

NAUGATUCK, CT β Police say a local school was sent into lockdown Wednesday afternoon after a man was shooting off a BB gun in "close vicinity of the Central Avenue School."
Just after 2 p.m. a parent saw a "suspicious person possibly with a long gun," police said. School staff initiated lockdown procedures and contacted police. Naugatuck Police responded and determined that Tremayne Boswell, 37, was firing a BB gun near Central Avenue School, police said.
The BB gun was recovered and it did resemble a long gun/rifle, police said. The incident was not related to the school in any manner.

"The Naugatuck Police would like to commend the staff of Central Avenue School who ensured their protocols were followed and worked closely with police to ensure all students remained safe during this incident," police said in a news release.
Boswell is charged with second-degree breach of peace, first-degree reckless endangerment and carrying a dangerous weapon.

NAUGATUCK, CT β Police say a lockdown at Central Avenue School has been lifted and all students are safe. Police say dismissal has resumed at the school.
Police say they responded to the school to "investigate a suspicious person at Central Avenue School." Police said as a precaution the school and day care were placed on lockdown, but that has since been lifted.
NAUGATUCK, CT β Naugatuck Police say "police activity" is occurring at Central Avenue School as of 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
