Police Blotter: Couple Accused of Leaving 5-Year-Old Home Alone

The following information was provided by the public information officer at the Naugatuck Police Department. They are allegations at this point.

RISK OF INJURY TO A CHILD
A Naugatuck couple was charged with risk of injury to a child after police said they left a 5-year-old child at home unattended.

Diana Tackie, 36, and Ezekiel Alamu, 38, of 26 Wisteria Drive, were taken into custody on May 18 after police investigated a complaint lodged by school officials.

Police said Tackie left at 7 a.m. to go to Bridgeport for a court appearance, and had called her home on the way. Police said Tackie’s 10-year-old was home, but had to leave for school, and that the 5-year-old would be home alone. When the 10-year-old told her school officials to call home about an early dismissal, the 5-year-old picked up the phone and informed them no one was home, police said.
