SOUTHINGTON/NAUGATUCK, CT — A law enforcement team was searching for a Southington Robbery suspect in Naugatuck on Monday, police said. He was caught after a chase by car and on foot.

Southington police spokesman Sgt. Jeffrey Dobratz said the department was piecing together the details of the case, but added the search was on for a suspect.

State police are describing the suspect as a white male wearing blue jeans and a black coat and are asking anyone seeing him to call 911.

Dobratz said on Monday at 9:50 a.m., Southington police received a report of a hold-up alarm coming from the TD Bank at 121 Main St., Southington.

It was reported that a lone white male suspect entered the bank and passed a note demanding money, he said.

The teller gave the suspect an undetermined amount of money and the suspect fled the scene in a green sport utility vehicle, Dobratz said.

A Southington officer responding to the scene was able to get the suspect to stop momentarily, but he then drove away, Dobratz said.

"Based on the poor roadway conditions, any pursuit was terminated and the Southington officer did not pursue the suspect vehicle any further. A description of the suspect vehicle was broadcast to surrounding towns in attempt to locate the vehicle," he said.

After the broadcast, multiple agencies then came into contact with the vehicle, Dobratz said.

There was no weapon shown and none implied, he said.

State police at 12:15 p.m. said the man was caught.

Southington, Naugatuck and state police were in on the chase.

Police said David Latino, 44 of Naugatuck, was taken into Police custody on Route 8
and transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.

Latino was hospitalized Monday afternoon and will face charges related to the TD Bank Robbery in Southington upon his release, Southington police said.
