Herstory Theater presents “A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play” by Joe Landry, music by Kevin Connors at Cheney Hall on December 9
November 22, 2021/Manchester, CT...Herstory Theater is happy to bring A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play by Joe Landry with music by Kevin Connors to Cheney Hall (177 Hartford Road in Manchester, CT) on Thursday, December 9, at 7:30pm.
Charles Dickens' holiday classic comes to life as a live 1940s radio broadcast, complete with vintage commercials for fruitcake (extra-fancy), and the magic of live sound effects and musical underscoring. A handful of actors bring dozens of characters to the stage, as the familiar story unfolds: Three ghosts take Ebenezer Scrooge on a thrilling journey to teach him the true meaning of Christmas. A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play is a charming take on a family favorite that will leave no one saying "Bah Humbug!," and a wonderful addition to your holiday celebrations!

As these shows became established and bookings took off, Herstory became a home for projects about other lesser known women in history: Pierce, by Jacques Lamarre; The Waltz by Carolyn Kirsch, about Camille Claudel, muse to sculptor Rodin; Inez and Catharine, Dearest of Friends about Inez Temple and Catharine Seymour Day.
Additional projects include The Guys by Anne Nelson, It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play by Joe Landry, Love Loss and What I Wore by Delia and Norah Ephron, Drama in Farmington including a staged reading of Thank You by Winchell Smith, Hitchock and Horror featuring The 39 Steps by Joe Landry and To the Dogs, a new play written by company member Bill Arnold. Pre-pandemic, Herstory Theater produced its first reading of a new musical, The Resurrectionists by Chris Weed and Brian Jennings. Most of these shows are available, fully produced and cast, for organizations looking for programs, either as entertainment or fundraisers.
