The two casts share performances in an effort to include as many young actors as possible. Both casts are equally wonderful, so don’t hesitate to get tickets for a performance at a convenient time. I try to see both!

Director Bob Tansley noted that there will be a lot of tears at the final performance because it will be the last show with for himself and Gabrielle Saucier and Kennedy Morris, his two Belles from last year's 'Beauty and the Beast.' Both young performers will age out of the program next year.

Mr. Tansley called 'The King and I' the hardest show vocally that he has ever done with the students in grades prek to eight. It is also probably the most adult show he has ever done with BSS. Nevertheless, the young actors are doing an awesome job.

"The voices in this almost operatic score are fantastic…What until you hear Julia Mehlin, Kennedy Morris, Grace Altenburger , Gabrielle Saucier , and Maura Kahuda …….unbelievable for kids their age," writes their proud director.

The beloved director also told me that male leads Matt Keating and Jordan Elliott as The King, as well as Ben Dressel (Lucia Dressel's son) and Nicholas Santovasi as Tun Tha, more than hold their own with the young ladies.

I have been invited into one of the final rehearsals on Monday. Don't miss what promises to be another impressive community theatre performance of an adult version of a beloved musical that just happens to be performed by young students.
