Quinnipiac U Librarian Rachel Lerner Receives Award
Quinnipiac University librarian Rachel Lerner of Hamden receives 2020 North Atlantic Health Sciences Libraries Achievement Award
North Haven, CT - Rachel Lerner, of Hamden, a research and instruction librarian at Quinnipiac University’s Edward and Barbara Netter Library, recently received the 2020 North Atlantic Health Sciences Libraries Achievement Award at the organization's annual meeting.
“It is an honor to have received recognition from a group of colleagues who I so deeply respect,” Lerner said. “NAHSL’s generosity, knowledge and programming have helped me to develop professionally, and it is a joy to give back through involvement in volunteer leadership roles. It should also be noted that while I appreciate the recognition, all of my work in NAHSL has been part of broader team efforts with my wonderful colleagues in the region.”
Lerner is the library liaison to the School of Nursing and to the Department of Social Work. She joined Quinnipiac in 2013.
“It is great to see Rachel being recognized,” said Matthew Wilcox, director of the Netter Library. “As many of our students and faculty know, she has always done excellent work here at Quinnipiac, and she brings that same effort to her work on behalf of our library associations. This is the highest honor this association offers. In receiving this award, Rachel joins a long line of notable health science librarian leaders in the Northeast.”
The award was established to recognize outstanding performance and leadership of members and supporters of the health sciences library community in New England. An honoree is a person or group of people who have participated in North Atlantic Health Sciences Libraries (NAHSL) activities, have supported the NAHSL mission, have led the library community and contributed to the profession in an exemplary way.
