HAMDEN - The community is invited to attend the free panel discussion, “Banned Books, Canceling, and the Freedom to Learn,” from 6:30-8 p.m. on Wednesday Sept. 21, in the Library Collaborative Room in the Arnold Bernhard Library on the Mount Carmel Campus, 275 Mount Carmel Ave.

“Given the recent attempted murder of Salman Rushdie and the banning of books in states like Florida, Texas and Connecticut, there is an urgent need to discuss the practice of canceling in a democratic society,” said JT Torres, director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at Quinnipiac.

Torres will be joined on the panel by Kathleen Bauer, associate director of collection development at the Arnold Bernhard Library, Margarita Diaz, associate professor of journalism, Mordechai Gordon, professor of education, Vivian Quinlan, a graduate elementary education student, and Kearston Wesner, associate professor of media studies.
