The main aim of CCD classes is faith formation which will enable children to know and love Jesus Christ and live their faith with conviction and courage.

Classes are held at St. Vincent Ferrer for Pre-School through Grade 6 on Tuesday or
Wednesday evenings and for Grades 7 & 8 and Confirmation group on Sunday 9:00am to
10:15am. We will begin the year on 10th September with the celebration of Holy Mass at 10.30
am. All the children are to be seated for Mass with their parents.

Registration is open and the classes will begin the week of September 17-20. A student must complete required number of class time to receive credit for the year. Students who fail to achieve the required number of hours will need to make up their hours missed the following year. For this reason, parents are encouraged to register their child early.

The parents and guardians are the primary teachers of Faith. The effectiveness of CCD will
depend on their involvement and the re-enforcement that they give through their good example
and helping their child to attend class regularly, maintain respectful and proper behavior, and
complete the homework that is assigned.

On behalf of St. Vincent Ferrer parish I am happy to welcome Michelle B. Batista,
the Religious Education Coordinator. Michelle attended Teikyo Post University and majored in
Early Childhood Education and has 25 years’ experience in Early Childhood & Catechist
Education, serving several parishes in Connecticut & Vermont. She has completed Lay Minister
Certification through the Archdiocese of Hartford, and Notre Dame University Step Program and
holds a Certificate in teaching Catechesis of the Good Shepherd in Levels I, II, III for ages 3-12.
Besides giving time for volunteering, she has been a CCD teacher, Eucharistic Minister, Parish
Council Member as well as a delegate in the 2020 SYNOD process.

I wish the Coordinator, the teachers of the CCD program, the parents and all the children of the
CCD program a wonderful year filled with God’s blessings.
