Senior Center Hosts Christmas Luncheon & Seasonal Social Gathering
Naugatuck seniors gathered at the beautifully decorated Senior Center for the annual Christmas celebration.
The Naugatuck Senior Center sponsored a Christmas Luncheon and Season Social Gathering on Dec. 7. The event was put together by Harvey Leon Frydman, the director of the Senior Center.
The featured speaker for the luncheon was Erick Russell, the Connecticut State Treasurer. Russell spoke to the seniors about his responsibilities at the state level, including protecting the pensions of public school teachers and others.

The very personable Russell told me that he was happy to come to Naugatuck to speak with the large group of seniors and that he often visits family in the borough. He currently resides in New Haven.

Frydman explained that he had asked what were Russellβs favorite colors and one of the talented members of the senior center handcrafted a black and gold hat and scarf to present to him during his visit to Naugatuck.
The event began at 10:30 a.m. at the beautifully decorated Senior Center and included a bountiful Christmas buffet of fine food.

After the seniors enjoyed the meal, the seniors were encouraged to stroll through the Christmas Cookie Avenue and fill up a bag of cookies to take home. Representatives from Burger King presented the seniors with paper crowns and coupons for free food.
Christmas music was provided by the famous Novitiate Choir from Legion College in Cheshire. Door prize drawings were also held.

The event was limited to 80 people and it was very well attended.
