We even had a very rare case the other night where the owner of a stolen car advised that the car was locked and the keys were removed (Push start type vehicle utilizing key fab) - While this is a very rare occurrence anything is possible when it comes to thievery! ...

Despite the single - "locked / no keys inside" vehicle theft - the absolute best way to prevent against your car being broken into and rummaged through - or worse, stolen - is to secure your car and to never leave it unattended with keys inside.

While it has been very cold out in the morning, please do not leave your car running and unattended at home or at gas stations or stores ... Officers come across a lot of these and make it a point to remind to remind citizens of the risk they take by leaving a car running, unlocked and unattended - but it happens much too frequently -

Please note that unsecured / running / keys left inside vehicle thefts make your car easy prey - We have been told straight out by those that have been arrested for stealing cars that vehicles left running and unattended are easy targets for them ... don't be come a victim - PLEASE LOCK YOUR CAR AND REMOVE THE KEYS!

Thank you for taking a moment to read this and please share to get the word out!
On behalf of all of us at the Naugatuck PD please have a safe and enjoyable holiday season!
