Solomon Kee Visits the Waterbury Arts Magnet School
The Waterbury native is back in his home town for two performances this weekend at Seven Angels Theatre.

Actor Solomon Kee, a native of Waterbury, returned to the Waterbury Arts Magnet School (WAMS) today to speak with some of the students who now attend his alma mater. Mr. Kee is a 2007 graduate of WAMS, a member of the very first graduating class of the relatively new downtown magnet school that is located next to the Palace Theater. WAMS students met with the actor in the school’s Apron Stage.
The gifted actor is in Waterbury for a one-man show at Seven Angels Theatre this weekend called Mr. Davis, a Night with Sammy. The students had the chance to ask Mr. Kee questions about his career. They were also treated to a performance. “He sounded just like Sammy Davis, Jr.,” reported Christian “C.J” Janis, an admirer of the Rat Pat. WAMS chorus teacher Marianna Vagnini-Dadamo wrote, “Thrilled to have Solomon Kee back at WAMS, class of 2007. Do not miss his one man show at Seven Angels this weekend and experience the joy and the music of Sammy Davis Jr!”
After he graduated from WAMS, Mr. Kee moved to New York to attend The American Musical and Dramatic Academy. Since graduating from this academy, Mr. Kee has traveled nationally working on shows such as HAIRSPRAY, DREAMGIRLS, AIN’T MISBEHAVIN and a number of Rat Pack revues and book musicals. In 2012 Kee developed his own cabaret and stand up routine titled I’M JUST HERE TO MAKE THE WORLD TASTE GOOD. After much success with the show it began to head in a different direction and was revamped into an entire Sammy Davis Jr. Musical Show. Mr. Kee has had the privilege of having Tony Award wining producers see his Sammy in action and they have now taken him under their wing. The show is now in development for a 2015 workshop in New York City.
