St. Hedwig Church Presents Annual Christmas Pageant [PHOTOS]
Some of the youngest members of St. Hedwig parish retold the story of the first Christmas on Saturday evening.
Naugatuck - Despite being named as one of the parishes that may be facing closure, the parish of St. Hedwig celebrated Christmas Eve Mass as usual on Saturday evening. St. Hedwig has been linked with St. Mary, the other Roman Catholic Church in Union City, for several years. Rev. Sebastian Kos, Administrator of St. Mary and St. Hedwig parishes, was the Christmas Eve Mass celebrant and he was assisted by Deacon Thomas Clifford.
Children from the parish practiced the traditional pageant with their director DRE Sue Plaskon. The young actors playing Mary, Joseph, shepherds, the three kings, and angels entered the church already dressed in their costumes and waited for their entrances in the back of the church.
After acting out a simple version of the story of the first Christmas, the entire cast joined together for the singing of "Silent Night," first by an angel in Polish and then everyone together in English.
