NPD Statement Regarding Buffalo NY Shooting

The Naugatuck Police Department would like to extend our condolences to the friends and family of those who lost their lives on Saturday afternoon at the Tops Friendly Supermarket in Buffalo, New York. To the members of the Buffalo community who are also grieving, we see your grief and we hope that you are able to find peace in the days ahead. To the local first responders who answered this call for service, we are proud of you and the commitment to your community. Although shootings have become far too common in our society, racially motivated from hate-filled ideology and extremism are even more tragic

We understand high-profile incidents like this can increase concern and elevate fear in the community and we want to assure you that in Naugatuck we will maintain an increased police presence throughout the Borough as our officers do what they do best, protect and serve.
