Stolen Car Crashes Into Backyard Of Naugatuck Home: Police
Police said the car, which was reported stolen from Waterbury, was found down an embankment in the backyard of a Naugatuck home.

NAUGATUCK, CT β A man accused of stealing a car from Waterbury was arrested Saturday morning after crashing the vehicle behind a Naugatuck home, according to police.
In a news release posted to Facebook, police said officers responded to the Hop Brook Estates on Spring Street around 9 a.m. after receiving a report of a one-car crash in the area.
When officers arrived, they found a Subaru down an embankment in the backyard of one of the homes. No structural damage or injuries to any residents were reported, police said.

According to police, the driver had taken the car's license plate off and fled on foot. Officers also learned the vehicle had been stolen from Waterbury.
Minutes later, a K9 officers found Bernard Billie, 38, of Waterbury, hiding in the bushes by the complex. He was charged with interfering, larceny of a motor vehicle, evading, DUI and misuse, according to police.

"A job well done to our department's patrol division for recovering a stolen vehicle and quickly apprehending and removing an impaired driver from our streets," police said on Facebook.
