Suspects Accused Of Stealing Catalytic Converters In Naugatuck

NAUGATUCK, CT — Four people were arrested on larceny, criminal mischief and other charges Saturday after police said they were trying to steal catalytic converters from vehicles at a Naugatuck auto repair shop.

Arrested were David Berroa, 28, of Waterbury; Ricardo Negron, 38, of Wallingford; Brittany Lynn Thorne, 30, of Naugatuck; and Bennett Winston, 19, of Waterbury.

They were arrested at about 11:30 p.m. at Sibby's Automotive on High Street, after officers were called to the shop on a report of possible criminal activity at the facility. Officers found the four, and said that they had been involved in cutting catalytic converters out of vehicles.

In addition to fourth-degree larceny and first-degree criminal mischief, the suspects also were charged with various other violations, including second-degree criminal trespass; conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny; conspiracy to commit first-degree criminal mischief; possession of a controlled substance; or interfering with an officer.

They are scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court in September.
