Suspect Sought In Officer-Involved Shooting: Naugatuck Police

The man is accused of driving at the officer during a traffic stop. The officer fired his weapon during the incident, according to officials

NAUGATUCK, CT β€” Naugatuck police are looking for a Waterbury man who is accused of driving a vehicle at an officer during a traffic stop Monday night in the borough. Police have secured an arrest warrant for Roznovsky Machado, 24, in connection with the officer-involved shooting incident in Naugatuck.

The officer, identified by Connecticut State Police as Sgt. Nicholas Kehoss, fired at a vehicle after the driver drove at him during a traffic stop. Kehoss has been placed on administrative assignmentwhile the incident is investigated.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. on the Route 8 North on-ramp at Maple Street. Police were conducting a traffic stop on an orange 2019 Dodge Charger with Ohio registration No. HQJ2680.

During the course of the traffic stop, the officer "discharged his weapon at the vehicle while it drove at him," according to a news release.

Kehoss was released from the hospital after treatment for minor injuries, officials said. It is unclear if Machado was injured, according to police.

Machado is wanted by Naugatuck police on charges of first-degree criminal attempt at assault, second-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, engaging police in a pursuit, evading responsibility with physical injury, operating under suspension and assault on an officer.
