Teenager Shot, Killed In Waterbury: Report

Police are investigating after a 17-year-old was shot and killed Tuesday evening.

WATERBURY, CT β€” Police are investigating after a Waterbury 17-year-old was shot and killed Tuesday near Bishop Street, according to FOX 61. Police responded at 6:28 p.m. for a shots-fired call.

The victim was taken to St. Mary's Hospital where he died due to his injuries, FOX 61 reported. The police department's Major Crime Detectives are investigating.

Waterbury Alderman Vernon Matthews released a statement on the crime. He said that the incident "was a reminder of how important family is to our community and those that loved the individual that was shot," NBC CT reported. He asked anyone who knows about the shooting to come forward and help police solve the case.
