Today is Thursday, August 6, day three of Storm Isaias.

At this time, our town crews cannot proceed further on road clearing, because of the inadequate response from Eversource. I would like to thank all of our town crews, the street department, the parks department, the fire department, the police department, and our volunteer fire police, as well as our emergency management team. Everyone is working around the clock, and all of our town teams are doing great, the impasse that has been created, is solely as a result of the failure of Eversource to show up and help us get things done.

At this time, we have 3,952 households without power. Based on our most recent response from high level of Eversource officials, we are hopeful that Eversource trucks will begin to arrive tomorrow in quantity. Residents should be prepared for an extended event, at least through the end of the weekend. We will continue to push Eversource as hard as we can and keep you informed.

A couple of other announcements; we have a list of impassable roads that will be posted on the Naugatuck Public Works Facebook Page. Also, water and charging stations are available at the fire department. Showers are available at the YMCA, from 5:30am to 7am and 5:30pm to 7pm, as well as Saturday from 7am to 10am.

Brush and storm debris will be accepted at our new recycling center on Andrew Avenue. Also, if you see signals down on the road, you should treat all intersections, just like a four-way stop sign.

We're going to continue monitoring; we're going to have a lot more information for you tomorrow. We're going to keep pushing Eversource.
