United Way Of Naugatuck Receives $10,000 From State Farm Agent
United Way of Naugatuck and Beacon Falls received $10,000 from State Farm as part of the company's Outstanding Community Engagement Program.
NAUGATUCK, CT — United Way of Naugatuck and Beacon Falls recently received a $10,000 grant from State Farm as part of the company's Outstanding Community Engagement Program.
According to a news release, the grant was presented to the United Way by State Farm Agent John McCormack, who the insurance company noted has "a strong history of demonstrating what it means to be a good neighbor."
McCormack was one of 100 agents across the country recognized for his community support and volunteerism. As a result, he selected the United Way to receive a $10,000 grant on behalf of State Farm.

"It was a great honor to be selected for this program," McCormack said in a news release. "I'm thrilled to be able to support the United Way with this funding."
The United Way's mission is to help meet the needs of the community and its residents by providing information, education and connect to services. The organization empowers people to gain financial stability through programs such as job training, financial wellness classes and more.

Educational programs for people at an early age through adulthood are also provided, as well as basic needs, such as access to healthcare, housing and food.
Lisa Shappy, the executive director of United Way of Naugatuck and Beacons Falls, said receiving the grant was exciting news.
"Thank you to State Farm for this funding," Shappy said in a news release, "but especially to John for his commitment to our community."
The State Farm grant will allow approximately 200 local, low-to-moderate neighbors take advantage of the United Way's services, according to the insurance company.
"At State Farm, we are dedicated to helping build stronger neighborhoods," McCormack said. "For me, it's not enough to simply say I'm a good neighbor. I embrace the responsibility to make this community better by being a part of a solution."
