Update from NPD Regarding Oak St. 1/1/2021 Incident
The Naugatuck Police Dept. will continue to update the public as additional information becomes available.

***UPDATE***
NAUGATUCK, CT - The Naugatuck Police continue to investigate yesterday’s incident on Oak Street. Police believe that the suspected shooter was occupying a silver or gray sedan, possibly a 2011-2014 Hyundai Sonata. The first character of the license plate is believed to be “A”. Police do not believe the suspect(s) are currently in Naugatuck and police have been searching the area extensively. We can confirm that evidence of gunfire was found at the scene and detectives continue to process forensic evidence. Police continue to ask the public for any home or business footage from the area of Oak Street and High Street from 3:30-4:00 pm on 1/1/21. Naugatuck Police continue to investigate if this incident was connected to the suspects from the Bridgeport incident which ended in Naugatuck.
The police department understands the community’s concern due to the nature of the incident and the fact that a firearm was discharged. We will continue to update the public as additional information becomes available.

On 1/1/21 shortly after 3:00 pm Naugatuck Police responded to the area to the area of Cross Street and New Haven Road (Rt. 63) to assist Ansonia and Bridgeport Police after a vehicle wanted in connection with incidents within their jurisdiction was recovered at the Cross Point Plaza. Police, including canine teams from the Connecticut State Police began searching and canvassing the area for the vehicle’s occupants. One of the vehicle’s occupants was taken into custody at G’s Burger on New Haven Road. The suspect and the vehicle were turned over to the custody of Bridgeport Police. Police believe other suspects may have fled on foot and be at large.
While all this was occurring, Naugatuck Police were called to the area of High Street at S. Main Street to investigate an incident in which the occupant of gray sedan fired shots at the occupant of a white pickup truck. Police believe the shooting occurred on Oak Street. There were no injuries from this shooting and the investigation is ongoing with detectives processing evidence and the scene. The shooter was described as a Hispanic male.
The Naugatuck Police Department is asking for the public's assistance with anyone who may have witnessed these incidents. Specifically, anyone in the 0-100 block of Oak St. and the 0-400 block of High St. with surveillance footage or household cameras from the time of 3:30pm to 4:00 pm. Anyone with information is asked to contact NPD at 203-729-5221 or the NPD Confidential Tip Line at 203-720-1010.
The Naugatuck police are assisting partner agencies with an incident in Cross Point Plaza. We are asking citizens to avoid the Cross Street and Beacon Valley Rd area. The incident is ongoing.
