WCSU to host final discussion in 2022 Regional Lake Communities Symposium series
Public invited to learn about threats to our lakes on Dec. 12

DANBURY, Connecticut — In continuation of the series that began in 2019, the Western Connecticut State University Department of Biology, in collaboration with the Connecticut Federation of Lakes and Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, will host the third of three 2022 Regional Lake Communities Symposia, “Threats to Our Lakes: Emerging Issues of Connecticut Lakes” at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12. This will be a virtual event.

The topic is “Where Have the Aquatic Plants Gone?” WCSU Limnology instructor Larry Marsicano will moderate a discussion with panelists Michael J. Greer of the U.S. Army Engineer Research & Development Center, who will answer questions and share what he knows about plant pathogens; and Greg Bugbee of the Connecticut Agricultural Experimental Station, who will share his current research on aquatic plant loss.

The symposium is free and the public is invited to join in via WebEx. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask the panelists questions. Registration is required at https://westconn.tfaforms.net/217. A custom link will be sent via email to pre-registrants on the day of the event.
