WCSU to Host Severe Weather Webinar

DANBURY, CT — The Western Connecticut State University Meteorological Program and Weather Center, in conjunction with the New York City/Long Island Chapter of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Service New York City Forecast Office, will host a webinar via WebEx on “Overview of August 2020 Severe Weather” at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14. The National Weather Service New York City Forecast Office Staff will share “An Overview of Tropical Storm Isais.” Ryan Hanrahan, a meteorologist with NBC Connecticut, will discuss “The Aug. 27 Hamden Tornado & Resultant Microbursts.”


This webinar has been organized by Gary Lessor, assistant to the director of Meteorological Studies at WCSU, and Mark Kramer, member of the AWS NYC/LI. The public is invited, and pre-registration is required at www.wcsu.edu/weatherconference/webinar/.

The event is scheduled in place of the annual fall Tri-State Weather Conference in Danbury at WCSU due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This would have been the conference’s eighth year.
