WCSU Offers Watercolor Workshop on Nov. 19

The winter barn painting combines wet-on-wet techniques with watercolors to create a winter landscape.

DANBURY, Connecticut — Western Connecticut State University’s Department of Art offers an Art Workshop to the public from 3 – 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19, at the university’s Visual and Performing Arts Center, 43 Lake Ave. Extension, Danbury. The watercolor painting workshop “Painting Winter Barn Light” is led by professional artist and WCSU alumna Jess Bartlet, MFA. Tickets are $30 at wcsuvpac.eventbrite.com.

All levels of experience are welcome. The winter barn painting combines wet-on-wet techniques with watercolors to create a winter landscape. No drawing is necessary, as an image transfer will be available. Facemasks must be worn. Participants must bring the following supplies:
• Basic watercolor paint set in tubes (including but not limited to primaries: alizarin crimson, ultramarine blue, lemon yellow, Payne’s gray)
• Watercolor brush set
• Watercolor palette
• 2 cups for water
• Paper towels
• 9x12 inch watercolor paper pad or smaller (preferably at least 140 lb. cold press)
• Ruler
• Pencil, sharpener, a good eraser
• Hair drier
• Optional: transfer paper, salt, plastic wrap, crayons, straw
