WCSU Opera Ensemble to present ‘Die Fledermaus’

DANBURY, Connecticut — The Western Connecticut State University Opera Ensemble will perform “Die Fledermaus” by Johann Strauss Jr. at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, in the Veronica Hagman Concert Hall in the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the university’s Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. The principal cast features Kelsey Guinipero, of Wolcott, in the role of Rosalinda; Anthony Uriano, of Tolland, as Gabriel Eisenstein; Julie Cooke, of Babylon, New York, as Adele; Matthew Feinberg, of Cheshire, as Dr. Falke; Ian Martineau, of Windsor Locks, as Alfred; Melissa Travali, of Naugutuck, as Prince Orlofsky; Noah Scecina-White, of Branford, as Frank; Nicolas Morris, of Redding, as Dr. Blind; Ian McNulty, of New Milford, as Frosch; and Lorelei Clark, of Westbrookville, New York, as Ida.

The performance will be staged with orchestra. Professor of Music Dr. Fernando Jimenez will conduct. This will be the final opera presented at the university by Professor of Music Dr. Margaret Astrup, as she has announced her retirement.
