WEATHER UPDATE: Freeze Watch Issued for Naugatuck
It appears the cold weather isn't going away anytime soon, according to one prominent meteorologist.
Snow actually fell in parts of Connecticut late last night and the National Weather Service has issued a “Freeze Watch” for the entire state beginning late tonight and into Saturday morning.
According to the National Weather Service bulletin, hazards include “sub-freezing temperatures,” which means temperatures could be below 32 degrees.
“* IMPACTS...POTENTIAL FOR SENSITIVE CROPS AND PLANTS TO BE KILLED,” the Weather Service states.

“PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A FREEZE WATCH MEANS BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE POSSIBLE. THESE CONDITIONS COULD KILL CROPS AND OTHER SENSITIVE VEGETATION,” the National Weather Service writes.
NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Darren Sweeney writes on social media that the cold temps will last for awhile.

“How long will it last? Right now it looks like we’re going to see this pattern through early to even mid May. There will be breaks of warmth of course, but overall, it’s going to be a slow process,” Sweeney writes.
WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons wrote “Some light snow for eastern half of CT 2AM. At least it’s FRIIIIDAY! Windy & chilly again today.”

Friday night, Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 30. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Northwest wind around 10 mph.
Saturday, Mostly sunny, with a high near 58. Wind chill values between 20 and 30 early. Northwest wind 11 to 13 mph.
Saturday Night, Mostly clear, with a low around 36. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Sunday, Isolated showers after 10am. Partly sunny, with a high near 59. North wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Sunday Night, Isolated showers before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 40. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
