Weatherization Project for Naugatuck Homes Will Bring Savings for Residents

The renovation in the units began this Tuesday.

Thirty-two apartment units at Lewis Circle are being renovated as part of a weatherization project, NBC Connecticut reports.

The federally funded family housing was tested for energy efficiency to identify spots where there were drafts and leaks in the units.

The project is being administered by Connecticut Light and Power and the Naugatuck Housing Authority, according to Christine Warren, Executive Director of the Naugatuck Housing Authority. Funding for the project was provided by Energize Connecticut.

According to NBC Connecticut, the project is expected save residents more than $500 on electricity and gas. Over the next decade, savings are expected to average $5,700 per unit.
