Western School Students to Present 'Disney's The Little Mermaid'
Naugatuck's Western Elementary School students are hard at work rehearsing for their spring musical.
The Western School Theatre Club is in rehearsal for the upcoming spring musical. This year the third and fourth grade students will present Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Jr. in March.
I visited a recent after school rehearsal and was impressed with the level of enthusiasm shown by the student actors. The chorus sang together beautifully for “Under the Sea,” “She’s in Love,” and “Poor Unfortunate Souls.”
The lead performers playing Ariel, Sebastian and Ursula had clearly worked hard to learn their lyrics and lines. I look forward to seeing the finished product of this musical that I always enjoy.

The director of the musical is Stephanie Colella, assisted by school counselor Holly DaSilva and music teacher Cathy Lungarini. Ginny Marques Doxsey is the choreographer.
Western School’s principal Brenda Goodrich will appear in the production. She told me how much she appreciates the time that her faculty members volunteer to get the show on the Western stage. Mrs. Goodrich also proudly told me that some of the young actors were recently involved in a leadership conference during the school day and made a point of coming back to school so that they would not miss their play rehearsal.

The Theatre Club is currently looking for paper grocery bags to be used to separate costumes. Donations may be dropped off at Western School.
