Who Is Matt Katra of Naugatuck?
The Waterbury Republican-American goes in-depth behind the man who has led the push for Naugatuck budget referendums.

Who is Matt Katra? Many Naugatuck residents know him as the man who led a petition drive and efforts to defeat both the municipal and schools budget.
Katra is currently seeking signatures to force a second budget referendum. He believes more reductions can be made before it should be approved.
The Waterbury Republican-American’s Paul Singley went to find out exactly who is Katra. Katra tells Singley that he is “just a concerned citizen who wants to make a difference in his community.”

He’s currently a volunteer for the Naugatuck Arts Commission and may become the next Republican Registrar of Voters, the Citizen’s News reports.
Katra has served on both the Zoning and Finance Boards. Current, Democratic Mayor Bob Mezzo did not reappoint Katra to the Finance Board and his detractors view him as too political and an opportunist.
