Woman Stabbed Man To Death In Waterbury, Police Say

A woman is facing a murder charge after the incident Friday night, according to police.

WATERBURY, CT — A woman was charged with murder after she stabbed her partner to death following an argument, according to police.

Police were called to 40 Chestnut Ave. in Waterbury at 10:34 p.m. Friday on a report of a man bleeding.

Officers found Joseph Rodriguez, 35, of Waterbury, suffering from apparent stab wounds to his chest and arm. He was taken to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment.

Police learned that Rodriguez suffered his injuries during an argument that turned physical with his girlfriend, Destiny Smith, 39, of Waterbury.

Smith had a knife during the argument and used it to injure Rodriguez, according to police.

Rodriguez was declared dead at the hospital at 3:35 a.m. Saturday.

Smith was taken into custody and charged with murder. She is being held on $2 million bond. She was scheduled for arraignment Monday morning.
