Willow Street Park

The YMCA Basketball Training League is a unique 6-week&nbsp;program designed to help players develop their basketball&nbsp;skills and apply them in a game setting. During the first&nbsp;two weeks, participants will focus on skill development&nbsp;through structured training sessions that emphasize&nbsp;ball handling, shooting, passing, defense, footwork, and&nbsp;basketball IQ. In the final four weeks, players will be placed&nbsp;on teams and compete in organized games, giving them the&nbsp;opportunity to apply the skills and concepts they learned&nbsp;during training. This program provides the perfect balance&nbsp;of instruction and competition while promoting teamwork,&nbsp;confidence, sportsmanship, and overall player development.

NFL FLAG Powered by USA Football provides opportunities&nbsp;for children to enjoy America’s favorite sport. Players&nbsp;benefit by being physically active through noncontact,&nbsp;continuous action while learning the fundamentals of&nbsp;football, lessons in teamwork and sportsmanship. (nflflag.com) Children will have fun wearing NFL team jerseys&nbsp;and will participate in weekly games on Monday and/or&nbsp;Wednesday evening. Games will follow a rotating schedule to allow teams to play each other on different nights each&nbsp;week. Volunteer coaches needed!

Central Connecticut State University’s Division of Campus &amp; Community Engagement, in partnership with the New Britain Public Library, invites you to a special screening of TCB: The Toni Cade Bambara School of Organizing, a documentary film about Toni Cade Bambara, an influential writer and cultural worker whose works helped define Black Arts and feminist movements in the United States. This 2025 documentary was made by Louis Massiah and Monica Henriquez and features stories about Toni Cade Bambara as told by her friends, colleagues, and students. Falcon's Field

The New Britain Police Department will host its inaugural Charity Wiffle Ball Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Falcon's Field, 731 Farmington Ave. in New Britain, to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut. Community members are invited to participate in a day of friendly competition while raising funds to support year-round sports training, athletic competitions, health and leadership programs for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
Team registration is $150 per team. Teams consist of up to five players, with a minimum of three players required to participate, and all participants must be 21 or older. Each team is guaranteed four games, with top teams advancing to a single-elimination playoff. The event will also feature raffle prizes for participants and spectators.
