2 Busted On Narcotics Charge After New Canaan Motor Vehicle Stop

The two were arrested on Sunday afternoon.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Two Norwalk men were arrested on a narcotics charge in New Canaan Saturday, after police found a pound of marijuana in the vehicle they were riding in, according to officials.

Steve L. Barona, 25, of Camp Street, and Aziz E. Valez, 24, of Center Avenue, were arrested at about 4:45 p.m. and charged with possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

The two were in Barona's vehicle when an officer pulled them over northbound on South Avenue after seeing that the vehicle had illegally tinted windows.

After approaching the vehicle, the officer detected the odor of marijuana emanating from inside, which prompted a search and the discovery of the pot.

The two were taken into custody and were released after each posted bond on bail of $5,000. Barona was additionally charged with driving a vehicle with illegal window tints, and both are scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Aug. 15.
