2018-19 New Canaan Ed Budget Could Exceed $90 Million: Report
New Canaan Schools Superintendent Dr. Bryan Luizzi presented the proposal Monday.

NEW CANAAN, CT — For the 2018-19 year, New Canaan Schools Superintendent Dr. Bryan Luizzi is seeking a budget of just over $90 million, which represents a $3 million increase over the current budget and if eventually approved, marks the first time the town would spend more than $90 million on its school system, reports the New Canaan Advertiser.
The proposal carries an increase of about 3.5 percent above the current allocation, which is largely tied up in salary and benefit increases for staff.
Such a percentage increase would be more than double the percentage increase that the current budget of $87.6 million carried over the previous year. That increase was about 1.6 percent.
