21 Halo Awards Nominations for St. Luke's School

For the second year in a row, the theatre department at St. Luke’s School received the most Halo Awards nominations throughout the state. The Halo Awards is the most prestigious recognition of high school theatre in Connecticut. Judges saw productions from more than sixty schools from throughout Connecticut, adjudicating both public and independent schools.

St. Luke’s received a total of twenty-one nominations this year. St. Luke’s Director of Theatre Arts Jason Peck said, “The Halo Awards is the equivalent of the CT high school Tony Awards. It’s a great evening where they not only celebrate the nominees but all the students who made these great performances and great designs happen.”

The Halo Awards Ceremony will take place on May 29 at the Palace Theatre in Waterbury, Connecticut. St. Luke’s Halo nominations include:

• Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical: Amelia Wyckoff as Little Sally in Urinetown

• Best Comic Performance in a Play: Katie Libman as Frances in Five Women Wearing the Same Dress

• Best Costume Design: Chloe Kekedjian for Boeing-Boeing and Urinetown

• Best Lighting Design: Jacqui Holzberger and Alex Insoft for Urinetown

• Best Running Crew: Urinetown

• Best Original Cover Design and Artwork: Meg Adams for Urinetown

• Best Dancing: Urinetown

• Best Chorus: Urinetown

• Best Supporting Actor in a Play: Michael Crispi as Robert in Boeing-Boeing

• Best Supporting Actor in a Musical: Michael Crispi as Caldwell B. Cladwell in Urinetown

• Best Performance by a Couple or Dynamic Duo in a Play: Henry Jodka/Amelia Wyckoff as Bernard/Gloria in Boeing-Boeing

• Best Performance by a Cast in an Ensemble Play: Five Women Wearing the Same Dress

• Best Female Standout in an Ensemble Play: Sarah Powless as Meredith in Five Women Wearing the Same Dress

• Fearless Award: Five Women Wearing the Same Dress

• Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Classical Play: Henry Jodka as Bernard in Boeing-Boeing

• Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Classical Play: Amelia Wyckoff as Gloria in Boeing-Boeing

• Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Contemporary Musical: Henry Jodka as Bobby Strong in Urinetown
