They couldn't find the jewelry amid the car spa's vacuumed debris. Was it filched or fffttthhhwwwpppttted away?

A 43-year-old New Canaan man left his car in a parking lot across the street from Walter Stewart’s Market on Elm Street at about 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 15. He had arranged with New Canaan Car Spa on Cross Street to have someone pick it up and have the car detailed.
The car was left unlocked and with the keys inside so that it could be picked up. Right next to the console, in the cupholder, was a pair of very small, 1-karat women’s diamond rings worth $6,000.
They were not there when the customer retrieved the spiffed-up vehicle at about 3 p.m.

The customer asked the car wash to look for the rings. Employees checked the vacuum filter, but the earrings were small enough that they might have slipped through (gone with the wind).
