70-Unit Elderly Housing Complex Proposed In New Canaan
Waveny LifeCare Network is looking to build the complex on Oenoke Ridge.
NEW CANAAN, CT — A 70-unit elderly housing complex has been proposed for Oenoke Ridge in New Canaan by Waveny LifeCare Network on land it owns next to another of its facilities called The Inn.
The proposed complex measures 140,000 square feet and would rest on 1.5 acres next to St. Mark's Episcopal Church and the New Canaan Museum and Historical Society, writes the New Canaan Advertiser.
It would house one- and two-bedroom apartments that would cost $750,000 for the one-bedrooms and $890,000 for the two-bedrooms. Those are down payments; residents also would have to pay $4,500 a month in maintenance fees, which would include a daily meal and certain utilities.

New Canaan First Selectman Kevin Moynihan, while not taking a side because the application is pending before the Planning and Zoning Commission, said Thursday that he hopes Waveny makes 20 percent of the units rentals to offer some flexibility for elderly residents who don't want to make such a large upfront cash payment.
"I can't form an opinion on the scale of the building or the application, but the location is terrific," Moynihan said, referring to the site's proximity to downtown.
