A New Look for Pennyweights

Owner Geoff Sigg, a 1986 New Canaan High School graduate, says customers don't recognize the Elm Street mainstay after its interior update.

After a renovation that briefly displaced local favorite Pennyweights, the Elm Street jewelry store has settled into its new space—complete with exposed brick, eco-friendly bamboo flooring and even a skylight right in the middle of the roomy shop.

Geoff Sigg, a 1986 New Canaan High School graduate and Ridgefield resident who owns Pennyweights with wife Kelly, told Patch that the store has new displays for its necklaces and that the exposed brick that they discovered behind their wall may date to the 1930s.

"It needed an update," Sigg told Patch.

"It's going great," he said of the renovated space. "Everbody who comes in has loved it and say it's like a different store. They don't recognize it."
