NEW CANAAN, CT — Outdoor dining will officially return to the downtown area of New Canaan this week, town officials announced Monday.
According to a news release posted to the town website, outdoor dining will officially return downtown Friday and run through Nov. 1.
New Canaan officials noted the town's sidewalk café guidelines state "The town wishes to promote commerce in the downtown and recognizes that outdoor dining is an amenity that promotes pedestrian traffic and highlights the attractive town center."
Outdoor dining on town sidewalks is closely monitored to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, according to the town website.
"This seasonal program has become a highlight of our downtown," First Selectman Dionna Carlson said in a news release, "and we look forward to another vibrant season.”
