New Canaan Board Of Selectmen To Consider Several Contracts, Review Parking Fees During Meeting: Agenda

NEW CANAAN, CT — The New Canaan Board of Selectmen is scheduled to consider a number of items at its upcoming meeting scheduled for Tuesday morning, according to a meeting agenda.

The board's hybrid regular meeting is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. in the Town Hall Meeting Room. Public comment is listed, with members of the public invited to comment on agenda topics scheduled for review or vote.

According to the agenda available on the town website, the Department of Public Works is seeking approval to enter into a contract with Seymour Sealing Service Inc. for $160,639.62, plus a $16,000 contingency, for a project that entails the cape seal of various roads in town.

Board members are also scheduled to consider a request from the New Canaan Police Department to transfer a New Canaan Emergency Medical Services ambulance to the department's fleet for use as a mobile command vehicle, according to the agenda.

Several other items listed on the agenda include a request from the New Canaan Fire Department to increase a previously approved purchase order with Northeastern Fire Apparatus in an amount not to exceed $15,000 and a Department of Public Works request to increase an already approved purchase order in the amount of $11,500 for environmental soil testing tied to the Irwin Park demolition project.

The board is also scheduled to consider a request from the Information Technology Department to enter into a one-year agreement with OpenGov Inc. in the amount of $36,831.22, as well as a request from Public Works to enter into a $9,000 contract with Architectural Preservation Studio, DPC for construction administrative services related to new classrooms and an ADA ramp at the Nature Center building, according to the agenda.

The Finance Department is seeking approval to enter into a contract with PKF O'Connor Davies as the town's independent accounting firm to include the annual audit for the year ending June 30, 2026. The agenda lists the base fee for the audit services as $117,950, with additional fees for services beyond the annual audit scope to be negotiated separately.

Parking fees also are expected to be reviewed with the Parking Department requesting to maintain current renewal fees for commuter permits of the Lumberyard, Richmond Hill and Talmadge Hill lots for Sept. 1, 2026, through Aug. 31, 2027, as recommended by the Parking Commission, according to the agenda.

The department also is seeking to maintain the current business permit renewal fees unchanged for July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, according to the agenda.

Other agenda items include a request from the Parks and Recreation Departments to hire 103 summer part-time employees, as well as the hiring of two equipment operators and an appointment to the Audit Committee for a three-year term.
