On June 16, Interim Fire Chief William Perritt said an electric vehicle drove from the parking lot through a gate and into the swimming pool around 10:30 a.m.

According to Police Lt. Marc DeFelice, no injuries were reported and the pool was empty and closed at the time of the incident.

A preliminary investigation revealed the driver was trying to park the car, however it accelerated through the perimeter fence and into the pool, according to DeFelice.

Perritt said a New Canaan lifeguard immediately sprang into action, dove into the pool and made contact with the driver.

Multiple officers also entered the water when police arrived in the area and worked with the lifeguard to remove the driver from the pool, according to Perritt.

The car was later removed from the water by a tow company, according to Perritt.
