NEW CANAAN, CT — The town issued a heat advisory Monday due to "dangerous heat and humidity" in the forecast for New Canaan this week.
According to the town website, New Canaan residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activities and use air conditioning to stay cool at home, or go to a place that has air conditioning.
The New Canaan Library, Town Hall and the Lapham Community Center are available as air conditioned public spaces for residents during their hours of operation, according to the town.

Residents are encouraged to check on those most impacted by heat, those who are pregnant, infants, children, the elderly, vulnerable neighbors and those with chronic medical conditions, including cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
Residents are also reminded never to leave children or pets in parked vehicles, according to the town.
Town officials also noted additional information and updates will be posted to the town website throughout the week.
