NEW CANAAN, CT — Substitute bus service is scheduled to replace all weekend train service in town through Aug. 30 due to ongoing track work on the New Canaan Branch Line, the Connecticut Department of Transportation has announced.
According to the town website, busing will take place Friday at 11 p.m. through Sunday at 9 p.m., with normal train service resuming on weekdays.
The continued work is necessary to install new track to the New Canaan Branch Line to support the Stamford Maintenance of Equipment Facility, according to CTDOT.
The current weekend schedule provided by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority can be viewed here.
"We realize weekend busing can be inconvenient, and we appreciate customers' patience as this work that got underway several months ago continues moving forward," CTDOT Bureau Chief of Public Transportation Jeffrey Gonneville said in a statement. "This work is a key step in creating a more reliable system for years to come."
