The recognition spans New Canaan High School and St. Luke's School, and outlines the rigorous steps these students must complete to advance toward prestigious scholarships in 2027.
   

2. 'Paint the Town Pink': NCFD Launches T-Shirt Sale at the Firehouse in Support of Those Fighting Breast Cancer (newcanaanite.com) — New Canaan Fire Co. No. 1 is selling $25 "Paint the Town Pink" T‑shirts at the Main Street firehouse from noon to 6 p.m. to support breast cancer patients. 3. Gary Lansing Orelup, 78 (newcanaanite.com) — Longtime former New Canaan resident and architect Gary Lansing Orelup, 78, has died, with a remembrance planned at Hoyt Funeral Home in town on Oct. 3. He raised his family here, saw his son graduate New Canaan High, and contributed to many Fairfield County projects before later years in Katonah and Fairfield.

New Canaan, Greenwich lead football poll as season kicks off Thursday (fciac.net) — New Canaan High's football team enters the 2026 season ranked No. 1 in the state, with the Rams opening at home tonight against Trumbull. The article breaks down statewide preseason rankings, last year's championship runs, and how fellow FCIAC rivals like Greenwich, St. Joseph, Wilton, and others stack up heading into kickoff.
   

5. CT to bolster fund that has helped thousands buy first-time houses in a tough market (courant.com) — Connecticut is poised to add $5 million to its Time to Own program, which helps first-time buyers with forgivable loans for down payments and closing costs, and has already assisted nearly 9,600 households. New Canaan is among the 157 communities where residents have used the program, giving local buyers a potential path into a tough housing market with rising prices.
