NEW CANAAN, CT — Silver Hill Hospital announced this week Samantha Eney has been appointed to its adult inpatient psychiatric team.
According to a news release provided by Silver Hill, Eney will provide psychiatric care to adults with complex mental health needs, bringing experience in adult psychiatry, substance use disorder treatment, medical education and research.
"The most complex patients rarely fit neatly into a single diagnosis, particularly when psychiatric and substance use disorders intersect," Chief Clinical Officer Mark Russ said in a news release. "Dr. Eney's training in adult and addiction psychiatry positions her to understand those complexities and make thoughtful clinical decisions at a critical point in a patient's care. She is an excellent addition to our inpatient team."
According to the release, the adult inpatient program provides care for individuals experiencing mood disorders, psychotic episodes and withdrawal from alcohol, sedatives or opioids.
Industry-leading clinician-to-patient ratios and daily interdisciplinary rounds allow the care team to maintain a shared, real-time understanding of each patient's treatment and progress, according to the release.
"Silver Hill's individualized and collaborative approach to psychiatric care strongly aligns with how I strive to support patients throughout treatment," Eney said in a news release. "I look forward to working with this experienced team and helping patients build a strong foundation for continued recovery."
Eney completed a fellowship in addiction psychiatry at NYU Langone Health and her adult psychiatry residency at Maimonides Health, where she served as chief resident in ambulatory psychiatry, according to the release.
During her residency, she developed an evidence-based substance use disorder curriculum and pioneered an addiction elective, focused on treating patients with opioid and alcohol use disorders, according to the release.
Eney earned her medical degree magna cum laude and a master's degree from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine and her bachelor's degree in psychology from New York University.
According to the release, her research experience includes studying transcranial magnetic stimulation for alcohol use disorder at the New York State Psychiatric Institute at Columbia University.
