Grace Community Church Offers Communion Class

On Sunday, March 3rd, Grace Community Church kicked off their spring communion class for kids in 5th and 6th grades. Entitled “The Next Step”, this program is specifically designed to explain the meaning and importance of developing a relationship with Jesus Christ.  The 4-week class focuses on the Lord’s Supper and Communion and the personal connection Jesus wants to have with each of us.

Through culturally relevant video clips and scriptures found throughout the Bible, kids have fun as they engage with their peers exploring who Jesus is, how His sacrifice offers redemption and most importantly how to know Him better through His word. The
class is being taught by Leslie Crowley, a veteran GCC Sunday School teacher and parent of 3 children involved at the church.  The program will conclude on Palm Sunday, at which time Senior Pastor Cliffe Knechtle will lead the class as they take their first Communion.

Commenting on the importance of communion, GCC Children’s Education Director Julia Hughes shares, “Although we realize children grow at their own paces spiritually, this program will be an important milestone as kids continue their life long journey of faith exploration.” Hughes explains that while children spend their elementary years learning who Jesus is through significant Bible stories, “The Next Step” allows our 5th and 6th graders the opportunity make the message of the Bible personally relevant.”
