Aquarion Announces 2023 Sprinkler Irrigation Schedule For New Canaan
Aquarion Water Company has announced the 2023 sprinkler irrigation schedule for customers in New Canaan and other areas.
NEW CANAAN, CT — Aquarion Water Company announced Tuesday the 2023 sprinkler irrigation schedule is now in effect and will continue until Oct. 31.
The program is mandatory for customers in New Canaan, as well as Darien, Fairfield, Greenwich, Newtown, Stamford and Westport, according to the town's Facebook page.
The schedule helps to conserve water supplies by reducing overwatering of lawns and gardens through a maximum two days per week schedule. The conservation program helps to ensure local water supplies remain sufficient for critical needs such as human consumption and fire protection, according to town officials.

The following maximum twice-weekly sprinkler irrigation schedule was posted to the town's Facebook page Tuesday:

| 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8 (even numbers) | Sunday & Wednesday: 12:01 a.m. to 10 a.m. or 6 p.m. to midnight |
| 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9 (odd numbers) | Saturday & Tuesday: 12:01 a.m. to 10 a.m. or 6 p.m. to midnight |
| No address number | Sunday & Wednesday: 12:01 a.m. to 10 a.m. or 6 p.m. to midnight |
Some residents may qualify for a variance from the schedule. For example, if customers have installed new plantings or sod in the spring, they would be allowed to water more frequently to help get plants established, according to town officials.
