ArtScapades presents Modern Beginnings: From Beautiful to Gritty

ArtScapades is back with a new lectures on 20th Century Art, starting Monday, Nov. 10.

On Monday, Nov. 10, ArtScapades explores how a modern movement developed in America led by artists of The Ashcan School and The Eight. Works and lives of important artists of the period will be discussed including those of George Bellows, Robert Henri, William Glackens, John Sloan, and Edward Hopper.

The series continues on Monday, April 13th with The American Scene: From Regionalism to Roosevelt as ArtScapades details how artists included realism in their works, and looks at how FDR’s New Deal affected the art world.

Included in April’s lecture are works by Thomas Eakins, Thomas Hart Benton, Grant Wood, Andrew Wyeth, Marsden Hartley, and Diego Rivera.

Further lectures in this series will be held on May 11 and June 15.
